AUVSI Statement on Senate Advancement of the Aviation Innovation and Global Competitiveness Act and the Connected Vehicle Security Act

AUVSI applauds the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee for advancing the Aviation Innovation and Global Competitiveness Act and the Connected Vehicle Security Act. 

The Aviation Innovation and Global Competitiveness Act takes an important step toward creating a more predictable pathway for advanced air mobility and eVTOL aircraft to enter the national airspace by establishing standard timelines for the FAA’s type certification process. Greater clarity and consistency in certification will help manufacturers invest, innovate and bring these technologies to market while strengthening U.S. leadership in advanced aviation. 

The Connected Vehicle Security Act addresses a growing national security priority by protecting the U.S. automotive industrial base from potential risks associated with foreign adversary access to connected vehicle technology. As vehicles become increasingly connected, autonomous and software-defined, this legislation will help safeguard critical technologies and supply chains while supporting American competitiveness.
