AUVSI Applauds House Advancement of Aviation Innovation and Global Competitiveness Act

AUVSI applauds the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for advancing the Aviation Innovation and Global Competitiveness Act (H.R. 7553) out of committee on September 15. AUVSI worked diligently with our partners in Congress to push for this markup and will continue to engage with Congress to ensure that the best interests of our members are reflected in the final bill text. 

The Aviation Innovation and Global Competitiveness Act is an important step toward creating a more predictable pathway for advanced air mobility and eVTOL aircraft to enter the national airspace, requiring the FAA to establish standard timelines for the type certification process. This consistency and clarity in certification will make it easier for manufacturers to invest, innovate, and bring these technologies to market while strengthening U.S. leadership in advanced aviation. 

This action follows the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee’s advancement of the companion bill, S. 3885, in July, moving the legislation a step closer to passage in both chambers of Congress.
