The Maritime Advocacy Committee (MAC) is comprised of a diverse group of member companies, including Uncrewed Maritime Systems (UMS) operators, innovators, manufacturers, defense contractors, and others interested in advanced maritime mobility. We pride ourselves in our ability to come together and enable a unified voice for all stakeholders within the UMS ecosystem.
Why Now
The world is entering a new era of maritime operations. Uncrewed surface and underwater systems have matured into strategic assets transforming national defense, commercial shipping, ports, and critical infrastructure. The United States is experiencing a sea change in its maritime posture including legislation to revitalize American shipbuilding and dedicated Program Offices for Robotics and Autonomous Systems in the Navy and Coast Guard.
However, this transformation is only beginning. Without thoughtful and broadly informed laws, regulations, budgets, and organizational changes, maritime uncrewed systems cannot scale safely and securely and innovation will be stifled.
That’s where the MAC can have outsized impact—with your help. The MAC unites industry to turn vision into action, shaping federal policy for uncrewed surface and underwater systems across military and commercial operations. Together, industry can ensure U.S. maritime autonomy is safe, scalable, and strategically aligned.

In 2025, AUVSI and its members helped lay the foundation for U.S. leadership at sea. Through early and consistent engagement, the MAC helped advance regulatory frameworks, funding priorities, and operational standards for uncrewed maritime systems.
